The Babolat Play & Connect interactive tennis racquet is designed to look and feel like any other from the French sporting manufacturer, but its handle is packed with sensors and electronics which record data about a player's game and allow users to analyze their performance either by downloading the info via USB, or watching live stats over a wireless connection to a computer, tablet or smartphone.
Babolat says it partnered with movement analyzing firm Movea to produce the racquet, which has been five years in the making, and that it's the first MEMS (Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems) technology enabled racquet with the built-in ability to gather and analyze game data.
Sometimes a good eye and feel are better then a computer telling you what is right. Your body has to adjust and be able to breath. This is kind of like Yoga or touching your toes, at first it is hard, you adjust and get more flexible you are able to reach and hold poses better. Fast Company this week features Nova, our new concept for a home climbing wall that reinvents home exercise.
“Pro gear is out of place,” FastCo’s Belinda Lanks quotes LUNAR Europe. “Since it lived in the gym, no one has re-considered the design.” That is, until the Munich-based design studio decided to put its spin on the climbing wall, transforming the standard pebble-like holds into a wall art comprised of indented ripples.
“The conceit behind Nova–to make gym equipment less of an eyesore–is smart,” says Lanks. “And the UI details are clever.”
Nova is helping transforming perceptions of how training equipment formerly relegated to the gym can be reimagined for home.
Looks sweet, I need the update so any speculation is a rewarding treat. They really need to blow it out to keep us all interested, this is the best design and thoughts as of yet.
