Gift Ideas for Triathletes
For more on this go to - Trifuel
Stocking Stuffers
Here are some small gift ideas that any triathlete would enjoy this holiday season.
• Help any triathlete save time getting secured in their running shoes with a set of Xtenex Laces. These unique laces have an elastic core and a series of knots along the entire length of the lace at consistent length intervals. Stretch the lace and the knots disappear, release the tension and the knots reappear. The more knots between the eyelets on the shoes lessens the tension; the fewer knots between eyelets increases tension. This technology enhances footwear fit, comfort and performance. They are available in a wide variety of colors! MSRP: $19.95 (www.xlaces.com)
• Here is a little something for the triathlete who has accomplished the ultimate test of endurance or one day dreams of doing so - a Silver M-Dot key chain. The nice thing about this key chain is that it’s not made out of plastic; it’s a nice hunk of metal and has a nice price to go with it. MSRP: $7.95 (www.shopironman.com)
• Triathlon involves spending a lot of time training and/or racing on a bike which can cause chafing in some sensitive areas. Here is a product that will make a triathlete’s ride more comfortable, DZ Nuts high viscosity chamois cream. DZ Nuts is scientifically formulated to minimize the effects of chafing and burning every time they ride. MSRP: $23.00 (www.dznuts.com)
• Here is a good stocking stuffer, a pair of SLS3 Compression Sox. Their innovative graduated compression technology maximizes the blood circulation in the muscles. The supportive effect and the compression of the SLS3 Compression Sox reduce the muscle vibration drastically, which leads to less damage of the soft tissue and less sore muscles. This will improve their performance in training, competition and recovery. MSRP: $57.95 (www.slstri.com)
• A bike mechanical issue is bound to happen to any triathlete. The end result after fixing the problem could be dirty and greasy hands. How about getting them some Grease Monkey Wipes so they can cleanup after their unfortunate situation. Grease Monkey Wipes are individually packaged cleaning wipes that use an all-natural citrus formula to easily remove grease, grime, oil or other messes from skin and surfaces. They can store one in their bike bag or tuck one in their jersey when training or racing. MSRP: $11.99 for 12 Wipes (www.greasemonkeywipes.com)

New Ski/Snowboard Technology
From Be Sportier
"New snowboard technology or we should say snowsport goggle technology like these Recon Goggles may make things a little more futuristic. This new snowboard technology will in essence be a ski and snowboard goggle where you view your cellphone screen, your speed and altitude on a small display on the inside of the goggle lens. Recon Goggles will feature a 15mm diagonal micro display will provide you with your real-time speed, jump hang-time, vertical gain/loss, altitude, temperature and will even include a stopwatch and GPS capability for rescue situations (great safety perk). Recon, a Vancouver company, is even trying to enable the goggle lens to show you where your friends are on the mountain. A future release is supposed to have resort trail maps projected too! Out this coming Fall, the goggle will weigh 120 grams, and will come in two styles with the difference between the two being in the quality of the lens and resolution of the picture. Look for the Recon goggles to be available in Fall of 2010 for between $350 and $450."

Revolution 26 heats up
From Road Cycling UK
Going into the evening it was the Rob Hayles’ Forza team who led the overall competition having performed well across the first evenings racing back in November. Before the nights racing began Rob was in bullish mood when asked how Team Forza would be approaching the nights racing.
“We’re gonna go on the attack again. It’s the best form of defence I think. But it’s going to be a different race tonight, there’s a lot of other guys here that weren’t here last time round and we’ll just have to wait and see but we’ve just got to try and get up there in as many races as we can”
Hot on the heels of Team Forza were the Slicks, led by Craig Maclean. Craig bagged a number of victories across the first Revolution underlining his teams sprint credentials, this time around his team would be boosted by the addition of Bradley Wiggins, a change that was immediately felt as Wiggins coasted to victory in the first bunch race of the night to set the early pace and draw first blood for the Slicks. Dean Downing of the Flyers summed up the feelings of the rest of the bunch about having Bradley back:

Snowboarding through the SnowTunnel
Well most people need to have snow year round to do their sport of choice. Well the SnowTunnel is here to help, well only if you are in Dubai's lavish indoor ski slopes in the middle of the desert. The Snowtunnel is a fairly simple device mechanically - a corrugated steel drum that has refrigerant piped through it to cool the metal. When water is sprayed on the drum's interior, it quickly freezes. Then, a rider hops inside on a snowboard and sets the drum rotating at a speed they're comfortable with, catching an edge on the iced-over metal and riding it like a cross between a snowboarder and a tube-riding surfer.

Zipp - Speed Weaponry | Wheels | 303 Tubular
Zipp - Speed Weaponry | Wheels | 303 Tubular
The latest version of the Zipp 303 Tubular wheelset was engineered for the rough roads and rugged weather of the spring classics. But, at 1171grams, it’s lighter than many pure climbing wheelsets. So we weren’t surprised that Cervélo TestTeam’s Heinrich Haussler picked 303s for the cobbles of Paris-Roubaix and then rode them to win a Tour de France mountain stage by more than 4 minutes.
Introduced in April 2009, the current 303 tubular is more than 5mm wider and 1mm deeper than its predecessor. Without adding a gram, these changes substantially improved the already superb impact resistance of Zipp’s Carbon Bridge™ technology while offering a more comfortable, forgiving radial stiffness. At the same time, the wider, deeper rim increased the 303’s lateral stiffness for sprinting, cornering, and accelerations. Another benefit is that wider tires have minimal impact on the wheel’s superior aerodynamics.
Meanwhile, the 303’s tire bed has been redesigned to protect against tire damage and pinch flats at low pressure, and for more precise mounting of tubulars. In poor weather, riders will appreciate the improved brake modulation of the new 303’s angled brake track.
Especially for smaller riders like Olympic champion Emma Snowsill, the 303’s stability in crosswinds – combined with its lightness and aero advantages – makes it an ideal choice for draft-legal triathlons on the ITU circuit. It’s equally at home on the muddiest, most rutted of cyclocross courses with top US riders Katie Compton, Todd Wells, and the Cyclocrossworld.com team of Tim Johnson, Jeremy Powers, and Jamey Driscoll.
