Holtkamper Kyte, Beautiful Design, What's Not To Love!

Going camping is sometimes a hassle, not with the HoltKamper. Set it and forget it. Almost like having your house at a campsite.
One-of-a-Kyte.
The Kyte pole-free awning is truly one-of-of-a-kind, worldwide. The pole-free awning 'floats' above the ground, without the need for any loose upright poles to support it. That places all of the awning space at your disposal! All you need to do is tighten the outer ends of the awning: the pole-free awning requires no ropes at all. The suspended carbon mast of the pole-free awning keeps the entire awning taught, even during storms.
Bert Holtkamp, the Kyte's designer: "At our 'test rock' off the coast of Normandy the Kyte has had some very stormy conditions to contend with during the past few months. The pole-free awning is built in such a way that simply nothing can go wrong with it. The endurance test proves that beyond doubt." When the Kyte is folded in and out, the awning stays connected to the mast. Because of this, positioning the mast is a piece of cake. The carbon fibre makes the mast extremely strong, but at the same time very lightweight. In no time at all you transform a few metres of fabric into a majestic kite.
Sophisticated Roof.
The pole-free awning runs seamlessly into the Roof Extensions, which have been especially designed for the Kyte. These self-bearing roofs shield the windows and the side wall of the main tent against rain and direct sunlight
Control the climate.
The Kyte is equipped with a worldwide patented system for ventilation, insulation and condensation prevention: the Holtkamper Membrane Airco Tent system. Once you've used this system once, you'll never want to do without it. During hot weather (above 30 degrees) you open the roof and the hot air flows out of the tent. At the same time the sun is prevented from reheating the air in the tent: the air under the outer roof escapes straight away as soon as the sun causes the temperature to rise.

Pedal Lock by Cheng-Tsung Feng & Yu-Ting Cheng » Yanko Design
As we all start to bike commute more, this will be great, based on this application we have a bicycle lock that deters theft in a very clever way. The pedals double up as wheel clamps and are designed such that breaking the lock (or pedal) will not only be a tough job but also a foolish endeavor. Superb!

BioLite, My iPhone Too!

Little things like this make many people happy, including me. No more fuel to lug around and who does not travel with a phone anymore, you are tracking, geo'ing, surfing and the worst taking calls, in the end your phone will be charged and your meals cooked all in one unit, oh you can use it to work a USB light.

Forget the fuel. Our stoves cook your meals with nothing but the twigs you collect on your journey, eliminating the need for heavy, expensive, polluting petroleum gas. It’s quick to light, fast to boil and clean to use.

Charge your gadgets. By converting heat from the fire into usable electricity, our stoves will recharge your phones, lights and other gadgets while you cook dinner.

Have fun. Like a campfire, you can sit around the CampStove and watch the flames dance as you roast marshmallows and tell stories with friends.

Stay green. By using renewable resources for fuel instead of petroleum, you're reducing your carbon footprint. You'll also keep fuel canisters out of the landfill.

Be prepared. The CampStove isn't just for camping; it's great to have on hand when the power goes out in a storm or other natural disasters. You'll be able to cook and keep electronics charged while power lines are down.

Support a better world. Half the planet cooks on open fires, leading to 2 million premature deaths each year and contributing to global warming. We're using the same technology inside the CampStove to bring clean, safe energy access to families across the developing world.

Magrette

Magrette a New Zealand watch company, has some wonderful designed watches. The Regattare, is simple, yet elegant, rugged and sophisticated. A watch that can be worn everyday. It has automatic movement, and two bands, rubber and leather. The bezel works a bit different than normal, you adjust it with a turn of the adjustment dial, like you would the time, eliminating any problems you might have while underwater, like bumping it or rubbing up against something, turn the bezel to a different time.

One concern I have, after wearing the watch for a couple hour of receiving it the pin came out, watch dropped to the floor, lucky I was on a carpet. I have set Dion a message, let's hope he gets back to me. I will keep all posted. A nice screw in pin like other watches of this quality would have been a better choice, especially if you are changing the bands often.

Love These Glove Or Are They Mitten

So having a mitten or glove has always been a preference for many. You either can't tie your shoes or you can, scratch your head or not, you get the idea. This design from CAMP-USA, the price is excellent as well, $80.

ABOUT CAMP USA
CAMP USA is the exclusive US importer and distributor of CAMP Technical Adventure Equipment, the 120 year-old Italian climbing and mountaineering brand.
From our offices just outside of Boulder, we occupy our time obsessing over gear, taking care of customers, and exploring the Colorado rockies. Lunchtime romps in the Flatirons, morning alpine climbs in Rocky Mountain National Park, and dawn patrol ski tours on Loveland Pass keep us honest.
In addition to our small and dedicated staff, we rely on our athletes and customers for feedback and that not-so-subtle kind of pressure climbers like to exert when they talk about gear. If you have feedback or need anything from us, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to hearing from you and thank you for visiting.

• Updated for 2011
• Ski Mountaineering Competitions, Winter Running
• Attached wind shells hide away in a pocket on the wrist

Back Country Access, Stay Afloat on the Slopes

Safety on the slopes is important, first we all started to wear helmets, great move. Now if you are going back country and hucking yourself off cliffs, well BCA (Backcountry Access), they have what you need.

Preventing or minimizing burial depth is the key to reducing avalanche fatalities. That’s because the majority of time in an avalanche rescue is spent on excavating the victim. An airbag is designed to keep you at or near the surface, minimizing excavation time.
Our Float avalanche airbags are the first airbags that are both affordable and easily reusable. A wide network of BCA-authorized refill centers provide unmatched service to Float purchasers. A small 2,700-psi (186 bar) compressed-air cylinder, single-chamber 150-liter airbag, and super efficient venturi system make the Float systems easy to refill, light and affordable.

    MINUS 8, Astro Studio

So we are all looking at movements of watches, hopefully they are swiss. Well The MINUS 8 brand, consisting of products designed in this West Coast culture, is proud of its position on the world stage and takes its name from this international nomenclature. Time is relative. We are only aware of its passing if change occurs. The MINUS 8 watch references our dependence on change through a series of subtle color shifts, each step only visible in the context of the others. This color shift is achieved through the process of Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD.) PVD is an industrial coating process which is inherently time dependent. A raw stainless piece is placed in a vacuum chamber where a hard coating accumulates over time. More time in the chamber produces a thicker coating and a more opaque color. A new wave of watch designers are starting to hit the market, using swiss movements, putting more focus on design. They are great, Professional Watches, has a great assortment of new and old watches with great reviews.

If you are new to the scene check out the directory, to see what you have in front of you. Watch collecting is coming back, so get on the wagon before the prices of some of these new watches gets out of reach.

    Augmented Reality, Good Use

There are many uses for Agumented Reality Game companies are trying to figure out a good use, The Daemon, has some good examples of this as well, along with heads up display. This would fall into both. One delivering info while another updating items as you pass.
European Satellite Navigation Competition in Munich and this beautiful system won the competition. This is a True3D GPS navigation system designed by Making Virtual Solid (MVS-California). In this solution the images are projected onto cars’ windshield to provide a non-distracting and transparent route guidance. With True3D a 3D surrounding is projected over the real world keeping drivers’ eyes on the road. There are virtual road signs for potential hazards and an opportunity that advertisers would love to get their hands to display business logos floating over them.

    Virtual Cable™

Virtual Cable™ is an augmented reality (AR) application for automotive navigation. The system, using our breakthrough
    true-3D technology
, presents a wayfinding line visible right through the windshield; presenting the information as a natural part of the landscape. As you can see in the video below, the line appears to be stretched over the road for several hundered yards in front of the car, above the street-level activity of traffic.
Current GPS systems distract the driver's gaze from the road to animated two-dimensional maps, with a distinct lag as the brain interprets the map information and applies it to the route. Often several glances are required to resolve the differences between the "cartoon version" of the GPS data and the real world. The Virtual Cable™, with its naturalistic perspective and foreshortening, appears to the driver as a solid overhead cable, showing turn-by-turn information way before the driver needs to act on it.

    New Vision, Kayak!

Interesting take on Kayaking. I see that the body is secure but how about the legs. Design is wonderful and if this could transform into a workable solution I am all for it, especially when surfing in the waves.
Freestyle kayaking is a relatively young offshoot of the canoe sport, where athletes perform maneuvers similar to those of skaters, snowboarders or surfers. This freestyle kayak design by David Laudert aims to improve upon the ergonomics, appearance, and overall user connection to the kayak. The athlete “fuses” with the hull and is fully supported within the interior without the use of straps that normally hold an athlete in place, relieving the fear of getting stuck under the boat in the event that it turns over and simultaneously enhancing the adrenaline-pumping experience.

    DemonBells

Each piece in the DemonBell line started individually with an ornamental design inspired from various global and cultural influences. Through extensive testing and evaluation of working prototypes, we have finally produced the fully functional works of art you see here. Each directional weight carries its own unique modifications, from anatomically designed handle grips and specific weight distribution for balance, to specially angled backs to match forearm angles during snatch movements. We designed each DemonBell while paying as much attention to function as we did form.

In blending these ergonomic improvements with the art and tradition of warrior cultures around the globe, we’ve created a new brand, a more performance-oriented bell that truly represents the aggressive and competitive nature of our shared communities—CrossFit, Navy SEAL, Military, Fire Department, Law Enforcement, MMA. You know what it takes to excel in your arena, you know what it takes to dig deep within yourself, to find that motivation to complete that one last rep, that one last step.

We created DemonBells to reflect that mentality, and to inspire you as well as enable you to push yourself even more. There is beauty in movement, elegance in form, and aggression and passion in art. Move and be moved. This is Art in Motion. These are DemonBells.

    Dumbbells Pull Back!

The ReCoil Workout System combines two existing fitness products: a dumbbell and a resistance band. A resistance band is coiled up inside each pod, which are color-coated based on their level of resistance. Each pod can screw onto either the specially designed dumbbell or curl bar, allowing the users to customize their own dumbbell by screwing on the desired pods.

    Sugru, Hacking Things Together!

    Sugru.com

    Very science-y indeed

Extremely clever scientists have been working on sugru for over 5 years to give it as many great physical properties as possible, so it can be as versatile and useful as possible for you.

Makes your stuff perfect (for you)

Why are so many products just so bad? Uncomfortable tin openers, leaky trainers, they get our goat! Why should you have to spend $30 on a designer tin opener? You shouldn't! Hack the one you have instead. Power to the (handy) people!

Makes your stuff last (really long)

sugru can help you dramatically prolong the life of your stuff. By applying in some cases even a teeny tiny bit to your things, you get to keep them for much longer and decrease your impact on our wee world. Repair with gusto!
